Bewl Barrel Race: Watch the Promo Video
Welcome to the Bewl Barrel Race website (see us in "The Hero Inside")
After a success in September 2010 The Bull Inn is now the home of The Bewl Barrel Race as the event continues to grow. The Bull Inn at Three Leg Cross, Ticehurst has a sixteen acre feild behind that we are able to pitch tents in for the evening, so, on the 24th September 2011 come along, pitch a tent and enjoy the races and the live music, food and bonfire in the evening.
Our chosen charities for the 18th September 2010 were The Hospice in the Weald and the RNLI and we raised exactly £2200 split between the two.
For 2011 the winning team has chosen Hospice in the Weald and the dedicated trophy, The Dominic Crisp Cup, in memory of Dom Crisp and The Will Scott Trophy in memory of Will Scott, both who helped get the first ever Barrel Race off the ground.
The idea for the race was dreamt up in The Greyhound Pub one winters evening and the event was born on a cold rainy day in November 2007! Anyone who has done "a cross country half marathon with a full 55kg beer barrel" will know what to expect, those that haven't please take a look at our gallery for inspiration!
Oh yes and the good news is that, instead of a medal, if you win you get to drink 72 pints of 'the sponsored ale' as your team wins the real barrel and you choose the next charity that benefits from the next race!
We think its the toughest half marathon you can do and it is open to anyone over the age of 18. You can enter on your own, if you're Hercules, or as a team of as many as you like. For those of you who wish to take part but would like to do something less foolish there is the Empty Barrel race to the Rosmary Lane Dam and back only a couple of miles!
Team entry requires a minimum £50 sponsorship. The Team entry fee is payable in advance through the online donation system. You can find links to Donate and the Sponsorship form on the Registration page.
There is a field behind the pub and the landlord welcomes teams to come along a pitch a tent the night before and join in a BBQ and bonfire ready for the following days events!
So, get your team together and register on this site and we will see you there.
